What was believed to be a house fire is now being investigated as a possible murder-suicide in Mineral Springs.
Around 4:20 Wednesday morning, a neighbor reported a house fire in the 3900 block of Archer Road. The fire was well involved when the Forestdale and Adamsville fire departments arrived.
Later, it was discovered that two people were inside. The victims are believed to be the residents, 68-year-old Joseph Yates and his 60-year-old wife June. Authorities say both victims appear to have been shot. A handgun was found near the male.
Deputies believe this may have been a murder-suicide, however the investigation continues. No cause for the fire has been determined.
