New details in an unfolding multiple homicide case that occurred last week, we know now that the five Hispanic men killed at Cahaba Lakes were not killed Wednesday but rather three days earlier on Sunday 23rd. We also know that it was a well planned murder.
"What we are dealing with is a business arrangement business deal that apparently went bad and the result of that is a murder for hire," says Sheriff Chris Curry.
Police believe that these men along with others stole more than $400,000 from an organized drug group. In retaliation to this theft the group created a so called “hit list” and hired men to kill at least five of them.
"They believe there was more people on that potential list of victims than anything has happened to...those individuals knew about this before we did knew they were in danger and some of them have fled,” says Sheriff Chris Curry.
"It is believed that most fled because they were aware of what awaited them if they stayed, torture and a slashed throat," says District Attorney Robert Owens.
"These individuals were beaten electrocuted via wall socket."
Investigators say the drug organization accused in these deaths wove a tight we be of deception throughout Shelby and
Jefferson
Counties
to throw police off their trail.
"This was the cleanest crime scene I have ever walked on in my life," says Robert Owens.
Meaning these criminal knew exactly how to cover their tracks. On top of that: none of the known victims or suspects were registered or linked to the apartment where the crime occurred.
Sheriff Chris Curry says, "There was no furniture to speak of in that apartment."
"We have a good clean case against these men and they will face action."
