A disturbing story out of Jefferson County, as a 90-year-old woman's death is ruled homicide by neglect.

Jefferson County Sheriff Sergeant Randy Christian says Mary Moore was taken from her Adamsville home to Princeton Baptist Medical Center in early June.

She died six days later.

Christian says she suffered malnutrition, had infected bedsores, and responders found cockroaches in her bed.

Sergeant Christian says, "It's very rare, in this community and like in many communities, we take care of our children and we take care of our senior citizens. This woman deserved better than what she got and we're going to try to in some small way make that right."

Moore did not suffer any terminal illnesses.

Christian says she would have lived if she received normal care.
