Brightly colored rooms at the Pediatric Care Center are just one example of the personal touches Dr. Angela Martin has brought to Anniston. "We started out with 900 square feet and we moved on up to this facility," Dr. Martin said.

Dr. Martin has been a crusader for children's health care in the community for years, and today, her dream came true with the dedication of the new clinic that will offer comprehensive care for children affected by environmental toxins.

"I have evidence that states, our children have a problem, our children are looking like 65 year olds on paper," Dr. Martin added.

The construction of a health clinic was part of the original PCB lawsuit of Tolbert vs. Monsanto, which is now called Solutia; now, one of the original claimants of that lawsuit says he's glad he was able to attend today's ceremony: "I think it's a wonderful day because you can see something that's coming out of this lawsuit eventually, something positive," said Curtis Ray.

Ray says he and everyone he knows has problems with high blood pressure and high cholesterol from PCB poisoning. "We wasn't warned until after the fact, that's the sad part about it and I don't know why somebody hadn't went to jail behind this, cause it's just like murder."

But today, he says the clinic has become a model of healing, and is a facility that's causing even politicians to take notice.

"We should have a clinic like this throughout the state of Alabama," said State Senator Vivian Davis Figures.

Dr. Martin says she's got an eye on the future, and plans to expand the clinic to more property in an adjacent lot someday.
