Jefferson County Man Facing Capital Murder Charge

A Jefferson County man now faces only one capital murder charge instead of three. Judge Teresa Pulliam dismissed two of the charges after the prosecution rested its case against John Ashley.
Ashley is accused of killing two Gardendale men during a robbery in 2005.
The defense claims Ashley acted in self defense. The third charge remains in place, since two people died during the incident.
