Two Killed in Interstate Crash on Interstate 59

A deadly accident on Interstate 59 North in St. Clair County left two dead and three others injured.
The driver and passenger of a car died in the crash between Ashville and Springville. The victims were identified as 76-year-old James O’Culberson, Sr. and 40-year-old James O’Culberson, Jr. both of Rome, Georgia.
Police say three 18-wheeler trucks were also involved, and those drivers were taken to UAB Hospital and Gadsden Regional Hospital. Investigators believe the vehicles were trying to stop for another accident.
"Traffic was stopped due to another accident north of here then three of the vehicles were stopped, but one was unable to get stopped and started hitting the other vehicles," said Trooper Eddie Dodgen.
