As with any wedding there's cake, hugs, and even a getaway car. But when you're exchanging vows on the "darkside", a little extra planning is more than necessary.
Groom Matt Gilbert says, "We were discussing having a wedding at the convention, thinking it would be cheap, and we were mistaken by that."
So how did Matt and Jessica Gilbert come to hold their wedding at the Play On Con in full Sith fashion?
"We were driving in the car and he was talking to his brother, and he mentioned something about the convention, and I said something about, yeah, if you can get the emperor to marry us I'll do it," says Jessica.
Matt Gilbert's brother Dan worked to organize Play On Con as well as his brother's wedding and even played a vital roll as Emperor Palpatine.
"By the force that flows through everything, I bind you to one another... until death and beyond. Do you turn back?"
"Never. We do not."
While the ceremony meant something special for those involved, those in the audience got a thrill out of the action.
"It's not like we're professionals here. We're just having a good time, but i think you can expect some Jedi to die," says Matt Gilbert.
"We will not allow this to happen!
