Good times in Birmingham's Southside were marred by violence overnight. Two people were shot to death and two others injured bringing Birmingham's homicide total to 39 for the year. The shootout happened in the parking lot behind several businesses on 20th street south. Police say: it started with an argument inside bananna joe's that spilled out behind the business. several weapons were seized at the scene. Right now, one juvenile suspect is under guard at cooper green hospital.
Birmingham police Lieutenent Henry Irby says "it's a very tragic and very unfortunate incident, we are lucky that more people did not become injured and or killed, we want people to realize that weapons in the hand of people especially if they have been drinking is not a good combination."
The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Willie Daniels and 20-year-old Jason Showers, both of birmingham. Two other victims with non-life threatening injuries were treated at University Hospital.
