David Pickett's mother, Doris Tolbert, says she thought something might be wrong when he didn't call her on Mother's Day. She filed a missing persons report with the Walker County Sheriff's Department more than a week ago, and now she's taking life a day at a time. "He just ain't never done this before," said Tolbert.
Investigators at the Sheriff's Department say they have received calls in this case, but so far, nothing conclusive. In the meantime, Mrs. Tolbert is left to wait with her memories and her fears. "I would tell David, I'd say, ‘David stay out of trouble now,’ you know, and he'd say, ‘Mama I am, said I pray all the time.’"
David Pickett is about five feet, four inches tall, and weighs about 116 pounds, with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen with his girlfriend at a residence in Carbon Hill, but Tolbert says her son may have been in Haleyville as well. "I just hope he's okay," Tolbert said, fighting back tears.
