Children don't need an excuse to have fun, it comes naturally. But when you up the ante with a couple of funnel cakes and a dunking booth, now you've got the makings for fun for the entire family.
"Today is the fourth annual June Bug Festival, supporting the Victim Services Organization up here in Cullman.
Cullman chamber of commerce president Kirk Mancer and his family are supporting the festival and he's jumping in with both feet. He's doing his part to help out women and children in need of victim services in Cullman County.
Kenosha Davenport is the Executive Director of Victim Services Of Cullman.
"We provide them with shelter, court advocacy, counseling and all the services we provide are free of charge. That's the reason we have this annual fund raiser.”
"Nearly everyone in attendance here today knows the serious nature of the work Victim Services performs, but today is about fun.
More than fifty volunteers have helped make this event possible, and the weather is even pitching in. Volunteer Carrie Diggers says she’s happy to be helping out.
"Everybody needs a smile and everybody needs fun in their lives.” If everything goes as planned, the 2008 June Bug Festival will be as big as the cause it supports.
