As a Chaplain of Pets, Marcus Allison considers it his mission to comfort grieving pet owners.

"For some people it's that one being that loves them that's always going to be home when they get there. And that loves them unconditionally. And that's why it's so spiritual for me," said Marcus Allison.

He believes all animals have souls and that all of their souls go to heaven.

Not everyone shares his belief. That’s a lesson he learned as a pet-sitter while caring for an ailing dog named Missy.

“She got real sick and it didn't look good and I couldn't get my minister to pray for her,” said Marcus Allison.

He discovered animal ministries through the internet. That was how he found a Chaplain of Pets in Stone Mountain,  a tremendous source of solace during his difficult time.

Now he tries to do the same for others and dedicates his ministry to Missy.

“People seek me out when they are in crisis. So I do prayer, I will lay hands, I will anoint the pet or the person both,” said Marcus Allison.

The Chaplain of Pets said he never charges people who reach out to him, but he does accept donations.

Although he does think there are scripture versus that support his faith,Allison is not trying to convince all the skeptics.

“When I tell them what I do they look at me real strange sometimes, like I'm out in left field,” said Marcus Allison.

He says it's a matter of faith.

“You can't prove to me that a human has a soul, but I'm not about proof. I'm about faith and compassion,” said Marcus Allison.
