The price of fuel continues to climb into record territory.

A look at metro prices around the state finds Tuscaloosa's average for regular is the highest at $3.74 a gallon. Birmingham's average of $3.70 is the cheapest.

The auto club said the national average for regular gas is just under $3.81 on Wednesday. That's 60 cents a gallon more expensive than a year ago.
