The City of Athens has something it hopes will be a hot ticket item at its auction this month: the city's old fire station.
Athens Fire Station No. 2 will be auctioned to the highest bidder on May 29 and money from the sale will go to the city's general fund.
The building was built in 1969 and designed by architect Allison Bailey.
It features 5,460 square feet of space, is made of brick and masonry construction and has offices, a meeting room, and even a large bath with shower.
Athens Fire Chief Cliff Christopher said the building has appraised for more than $400,000.
The fire department recently moved into a new $1.28 million fire station on Athens' east side.
