The Environmental Integrity Project say Alabama coal fired power plants produce and dispose of more toxic metals than any other state.
Alabama Power's Miller Steam Plant in Jefferson County tops the list for the entire country by sending more than five million pounds a year of toxic metals to its ash pond.
Others from Alabama on the top twenty list include the Gaston Steam Plant in Shelby County and the Gorgas Steam Plant in Walker County.
