ADGER, Ala. (WIAT) – Two children were taken from a home with a meth lab Thursday afternoon. Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office responded to a complaint about a neighbor stealing power at the 7800 block of Main Street Adger.
Deputies responded and discovered an active meth lab inside the home and found two children, ages 3 and 4, who were living in the home with their mother. The children were removed from the home and placed in protective custody of the Department of Human Resources.
Deputies received the call around 2 p.m. and responded to the scene shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, deputies found that one of the neighbors had connected a cord to an outside power outlet of an adjacent home.
When deputies questioned those inside the home, a woman who came to the door holding a small child informed them that her boyfriend connected the cord because they had no power inside the home.
Inside the home, deputies found trash strewn across the floor and dog feces in various places of the house.
The girl's boyfriend was found inside the bedroom of the home. Deputies asked him about the cord, and he admitted to using the cord. He was arrested. While inside the bedroom, an active meth lab as well as several old meth cooks were discovered.
Another meth lab was found at a vacant residence next door.
Both 24-year-old Joseph Blake Price and 23-year-old Miracle Renee Watson were arrested. Price was arrested and charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance, chemical endangerment of a child and theft of services.
He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail on $71,000 bond.
