BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- More than 500,000 Alabamians have diabetes.
Now, there's an effort to stop the disease.
The American Diabetes Association will host its annual Tour de Cure in Birmingham on Saturday.
The goal is to raise money for diabetes research, education and advocacy.
CBS42 is a proud sponsor of the event.
You don't have to ride a bike to help out the cause, though.
Anyone can come out and support the riders by cheering them and making a donation.
The event kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The route starts at St. Vincent's One Nineteen Health and Wellness.
