BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Now that summer break has officially arrived, many children are in search of a summer job.
However, that doesn't come without a struggle for many kids.
Job applicants face still competition for the few jobs that are available.
The Dannon Project is a program designed to help youth get jobs and a great work experience.
They expect to employ at least 300 youths this year.
"Today, we're asking that our youth walk away with a learning experience," Eddie Bradford says. "They're going to receive experience in the work career field they wouldn't normally receive."
The program lasts six to eight weeks with jobs ranging from work in parks and recreation to city hall.
