BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- UPDATE: The raid that was conducted on Friday afternoon resulted in the arrest of 22 suspects in connection with a vice operation, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
All of the suspects have been charged.
The vice operation was conducted when detectives issued a search warrant at 113 9th Street North in Birmingham.
According to a release from the Birmingham Police Department, the operation and search warrant were executed as a part of an ongoing investigation of reported illegal gambling at the location.
After officials were made aware of the activities taking place at the location, the Birmingham Police Department Vice Unit went to the scene, executed a search warrant and saw numerous patrons using "various types of gaming machines."
Officers on the scene arrested 20 patrons, who were subsequently charged with visiting an illegal gaming establishment. Two people were arrested and charged with operating an illegal gaming establishment.
A total of 33 illegal gaming machines were confiscated during the raid.
All 22 of the suspects are in the custody of the Birmingham City Jail.
