PRATT CITY, Ala. (WIAT) -- One Birmingham community devastated by the April 27th storms is moving forward.
Groundbreaking was held on Monday for new fire station in Pratt City.
The last station was destroyed by a tornado.
Firefighters are currently working out of a temporary facility.
Those who live in the community say everyone has been patiently waiting for the new station.
"It came just in time. You know, everybody and the residents know it's gonna take some time for this to happen right here," Clarence Ford, a resident of Pratt City, said on Monday. "So, I know right now we are on our way to Pratt City."
Local, state and federal agencies are pitching in for the $2 million project.
