BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- Many seniors suffer through the summer months without air conditioning.
That's because they're usually on fixed incomes.
Cranking up the air conditioning can put a big dent in a power bill.
Some local organizations realize this and are doing their part to help provide some relief.
The organizations are pitching in to offer many seniors fans.
However, they're in desperate need of donations.
They will accept any electric fans, as well as money to go towards purchasing them.
Those who wish to make a donation can drop off fans or monetary contributions at the Office of Senior Citizen Services in Birmingham.
The office is located at 2601 Highland Avenue South.
Temporary Emergency Services is also collecting fans to help seniors deal with the heat.
They'll be distributed to seniors and families with infants on July 5th.
To make a donation, call (205) 758-5535.
