BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - A local church put on a big time Mother's Day surprise for a local mom. The happy moment brought back cherished memories of a gospel music career.
From his book, it's clear how much Pastor Christopher Hannon loves his mom, but until recently an important part of one chapter was missing.
"She never gave up on us and I thank, I thank God for my mom," said Hannon.
He grew up hearing about when his mother recorded an album with a group.
"The Gospel Starlets," said Hannon. "But we never saw never saw or heard anything other than the stories that she shared with us. We had really no tangible evidence, until now."
Hannon found one of the albums online, but she didn't know it when she walked into One Christ Church of God in Wylam on Sunday.
That's the set up for his Mother's Day gift. Watch the video to see her reaction to the "background music" Pastor Hannon picked out.
"God bless you and I love all of you for making this happen! From the bottom of my heart I love you! God bless you!" said Christine Bracy-Dubose.
"I wonder if there's any other mother as happy as me and I just thank God. And I say to the other mothers, just hang in there one day you're going to have a day like this!" said Bracy-Dubose.
