BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) – The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help identifying a suspect in a robbery.
Surveillance photos captured from a sporting goods store in the Five Points West area of Birmingham show a man using a stolen credit card nearly an hour after he allegedly robbed a woman.
The woman told deputies she was robbed on August 5, 2013, while driving on Republic Road around 6:30 p.m.
She says she approached an intersection and was blocked in by a dark sedan.
The driver of the car exited and approached the woman's vehicle. He informed the woman that he would shoot her if she didn't give him her purse.
The woman obliged and the driver returned to his car and fled the scene.
About an hour later, the man was spotted on surveillance at a store using the woman's credit card.
Anyone with information about the case or the identity of the suspect can contact the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office at (205) 325-1450 or Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.
