BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The phrase "let the buyer beware" has been said time and time again.
For online purchases, the adage is especially true.
Jefferson County deputies arrested a man or stealing items out of new homes in the McCalla area recently.
The items were listed for sale on Craigslist.
Thankfully, the suspect's information was obtained and he was arrested.
However, the incident raises a valid question.
How much stuff on sites like Craigslist are stolen items?
Investigators say it's likely more than most people think.
In the end, though, it's the buyer who must make sure what they are buying and who they are buying it from is legitimate.
