GRAYSVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) – UPDATE: The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says the suspect taken into custody Tuesday evening is 24-year-old Ashley Noel Jewell.
Jewell was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery.
She is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
ORIGINAL: A female suspect is in custody in connection with a robbery at the Plaza Discount Apothecary just before 6 p.m. Tuesday evening.
According to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Randy Christian, a woman entered the store armed with a wrench and robbed the store.
An off-duty Adamsville Police Officer was inside the store and fired shots at the woman.
His shots struck store windows and a tire on the suspect's vehicle.
The woman fled the scene in her vehicle and made it to a nearby Walmart before she was taken into custody.
She is currently being questioned by sheriff's detectives.
