BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A wild and crazy car chase on a busy Birmingham street in the middle of the day caught some onlookers by surprise.
A crowd of people near UAB saw a car speeding backwards up 7th Avenue. It wasn't alone, though.
Police were not far behind the tan Ford.
It ran into a small gray car and smashed it against the curb.
Witnesses say the driver then jumped out and ran, creating high drama.
Police caught the suspect after a brief foot chase and took him to jail.
The chase started when police tried to stop a suspect for a car burglary.
