A fight promoted for two months took an interesting turn Thursday. Local boxer Ray Mercer and MMA fighter Tim Sylvia were supposed to go head to head in a boxing match this weekend at "MMA Adrenaline" at the BJCC.
But after weeks of training, a call came down from the ABC commissioner in Pennsylvania saying this was an illegal fight. Today, promoter Monte Cox held a news conference to call off the bout. But to even his amazement, the fighters wouldn't back down and a new fight emerged as the two men verbally agreed to an MMA showdown.
