***BREAKING NEWS****

Birmingham, AL (WIAT)- Joran van der sloot confesses to killing Stephany Flores, late Monday night. Authorities say he is still the prime suspect in the Natalee Holloway case. The Peruvian justice system may offer van der Sloot a lesser sentence, because of his confesstion. He could face up to 35 years in prison. There is no death penalty or life sentence in Peru.

Sources to BNO news say the Holloway case played a role in the Flores killing. BNO, in Lima, reports that police say he hit Flores because she saw private information on his computer regarding Holloway. The woman's body was found in a hotel room with her neck broken. Flores was a business student who police say he met playing poker at a casino. The killing happened 5 years ago to the day of Natalee's disappearance.

We have rare footage of van der Sloot being interrogated by Peruvian police. They went through all of his belonging as he looked on. van der Sloot was put on suicide watch after they say he attempted to kill himself. He could formally be charged as early as Tuesday.
