BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT)- Three funerals for five men.
"It's senseless, just senseless," says Charles Render Jr.
All murdered last Sunday, in a gruesome murder in the Ensley neighborhood. All five men were shot execution style.
"It's senseless that they would kill these people like that. something need to be done."
Saturday, family and friends came out to pay their respects to , 23-year old Jeffrey Davis, and Jonathan Sanchez.
19-year old Demetrius Sanford, 21-year old Charles Render, and 42- year old Ronnie Render, were related, so their funeral services were together at the Metropolitan AME Zion Church.
"It's tragic, we're all hurt, the family hurt, we're all hurt. I lost my nephew and my great nephew."
People attending today's funeral, are hoping that these men's death will send a wake up call throughout Birmingham.
"We all need to come together and do something about this, we really do."
"I just pray that this is a wake up call for a lot of people to stop this foolishness and just appreciate life, because it's too short," says Quashawndra Pettway.
She's Jonathan Sanchez's sister-in-law, she says her brother-in-law will be missed.
"He was kind, he was loving, he always had this big ole smile on his face, no matter what he was going through."
Now these three families are pulling together, and depending on each other to get through this. But they say, it won't be easy.
"It's just hard to believe that he's gone."
"It's just sad."
