You can tell a lot about your pet's health by looking into it's eyes. Many diseases, cataracts, and infections can cause problems with your pet's eyes. Any discharge, swelling, redness, or squinting of the eyes can signal a problem. Injuries to the eye can be very serious and may result in blindness if not properly treated. Splashing water into the eyes is a good way to remove soap or other minor irritants. More serious problems should be examined by a veterinarian. If your pet's eyes become injured or infected, never use any medication without first consulting with your veterinarian, since the wrong medicine can do more harm than good.
