The fireplace used to be one of the most dangerous aspects of the home, but with advances in fire safety, the fireplace poses less threat. The fireplace still require a certain level of vigilance for safety to be maintained. Use the appropriate size and kind of fuel for your fireplace. Make sure to always have a fire screen in place, and don't let logs stick out of the fireplace. You shouldn't ever leave children in a room with an unattended fire. At the beginning of the cold season, have your fireplace inspected, checking the flue, the firebox and the damper. You'll find that these safety precautions are worth your time when you have peace of mind in front of a comforting roaring fire.
