Tuscaloosa Amphitheater draws crowds, sparks city growth

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) -- The Tuscaloosa Amphitheater is putting West Alabama on the map for entertainment. Looking back, it’s brought big-name artists like Phish and Jack Johnson to its stage. And there is a lot to look forward to at the venue.

Here are the shows that will be at the amphitheater this year:

  • Tedeschi Truck Band - June 30th
  • Jason Aldean - July 25th
  • Keith Urban - August 26th
  • Odesza - October 9th

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox is a big fan of the performance space.

“You got the Black Warrior River, you got the old train trestle, and you got great music,” said Maddox. “It’s a perfect place to come enjoy an evening.”

Not only are the shows drawing big crowds to Tuscaloosa, the venue is sparking economic growth for the city.

“You see nearly a $75 million worth of development in and around the amphitheater,” said Maddox. “It certainly has made a great economic and community investment for Tuscaloosa.”
