It's June first and that means the start of hurricane season. That is why the American Red Cross is urging all residents to be prepared for what may be to come.
Chris Osborne with the Alabama Chapter of The American Red Cross says just because we live in Central Alabama doesn't mean we won't be effected by a hurricane's path.
"As we've seen in the past with hurricanes like ivan and katrina that we can be effected from tornadoes to storms, so it's a great time to go back over your family's safety plan and make sure it's intact."
