BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - On Saturday, the UAB community will remember the father of Blazers athletics, Gene Bartow.

Bartow passed away earlier this week after a lengthy battle with cancer.  During the Bartow Classic basketball game a special video tribute will be played in honor of the legendary coach.

On Friday, CBS 42's Ken Lass was one of those taking part in the making of that video - something he said he was honored to be a part of.

He joined many of Coach Bartow's former players, coaches and friends in bidding farewell to the man whose name is on the building UAB Basketball plays in.

The Bartow Classic, featuring UAB and Memphis, tips off Saturday night at 8.

Funeral services for Bartow are scheduled for Sunday.
