Midfield High School has been fined, placed on probation for one year and ordered to forfeit 11 varsity boys’ basketball games for violating Alabama High School Athletic Association eligibility rules.

The school used ineligible players during the season in violation of the Academic Rule. Midfield must forfeit two victories each over Oak Grove and Tarrant, and single victories over Calera, Childersburg, Handley, Homewood, Oneonta, Pleasant Grove and Ramsay.

The probationary period is a warning that other violations of this nature could bring further sanctions against the school.

The Patriots were ranked 3rd in Class 4A in the most recent ASWA basketball poll, despite a 13-6 record.
