Birmingham's BJCC is the home of the Final 48 and the metro Birmingham area is the home of four championship teams.

Saturday was a great day for local high school basketball with Ramsay, Midfield, Hoover and Fairfield taking home championship trophies.  The Homewood boys team was the only local team to fall short on the final day of the Final 48.

Local winners:

Class 4A Girls:  Midfield beat Deshler 46-25
Class 4A Boys:  Ramsay beat Brewbaker Tech 58-50
Class 5A Girls:  Fairfield beat Carver-Montgomery 45-42
Class 6A Girls:  Hoover beat Bob Jones 39-19

The only sour note locally on Saturday was in the Class 6A boys final where Homewood lost to Bob Jones 61-45.
