TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) - The name Zambooki doesn't mean anything to website co-founder and CEO Heath Hendrix, but it has meant a lot to Alabama's January 23rd and April 27th storm victims.  Zambooki.com is a free service for home and business owners and contractors that is essentially a meeting ground for home repairs.  Hendrix and his staff have been contacting mayors, city council members, and residents to get the word out about the website.

"It's just another layer of comfort and security,"Hendrix explains.  "I know my contractor's name, I know where they're located, I know if they're insured or if they're licensed, if they have a good Better Business Bureau rating.  I can see user generated reviews of people that have previously used this contractor, and I know about how much it's going to cost."

Hendrix says another advantage of the website is it's speed.  Contractors are able to give homeowners estimates and bids in real time, based off of pictures posted by the homeowner to Zambooki.com.  Hendrix says one homeowner received a bid within 5 minutes of posting damage pictures.  Contractor Timothy Williamson says he received a job within one week of joining Zambooki.

Hendrix explains that the website's revenue is generated through ads that only appear to contractors who use the website.  He says the ads are focused towards products that could be useful to individual companies.  Hendrix says this is how the website can be free to everyone.
