CLANTON, Ala. (WIAT) - Volunteers and storm victims were hard at work in Clanton on Monday afternoon after severe weather tore through the community early in the morning.  Down Alabama Highway 22 roads were blocked by trees and power lines.  A trailer park on Highway 22 took, what residents believe to be, a direct hit.  By late morning crowds of volunteers gathered to help storm victims comb through the debris for anything that could be salvaged.  Volunteers helped families box their belongings and load them into trucks and moving vans.  They also distributed water bottles and bagged lunches for workers and victims.

A radio station off of Highway 22 narrowly missed a direct hit.  Station employees believe the tornado was off of the ground when it came over their building.  The tops of trees and their 300 foot antenna were twisted and broken, although the station was not severely damaged.  A mobile home next door to the station did receive some damage from fallen trees.  Residents did not know of any injuries in the immediate area.
