BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) –  As compelling as the video we've shown you on the ground, nothing compares shots from the air.

It's hard to find the words when you see mass destruction like this. Buildings completely leveled. There are piles of rubble where homes once stood. It's difficult to even figure out what the structures were. We didn't see a lot of cars driving in Tuscaloosa...there was a lot of foot traffic. Folks are sifting through the destruction. We then flew to Walker County, particularly Cordova. The city, is gone. One house in particular simply looks like a pile of white wood. From there we flew to Cullman. The tornado ravaged downtown. So many staple structures devastated by the wrath of the storms. We passed through Fultondale on our way back to the metro Birmingham area. Pleasant Grove and Pratt City looks as shocking from the sky as they do on the ground.
