BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - It wasn't just homes and businesses damaged in the storms and tornadoes on April 27th. Hundreds of thousands of acres of Alabama timberland were destroyed as well.
To deal with the damage, Governor Robert Bentley set up new forest recovery task force to try to recoup at least some of the money the damage is costing the forestry industry. North Alabama District Forester Hank McKinley says the first job is to get the fallen trees out of the woods, and then they can get what ever they can out of them.
