BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - The Securities and Exchange Commission presses a federal judge to make a ruling on it's lawsuit against former Birmingham mayor Larry Langford.

Langford is currently serving a 15-year prison sentence.  He was convicted on corruption charges that occurred while he served as President of the Jefferson County Commission.

A federal panel denied Langford's appeal, prompting the SEC to file a motion with US District Judge Abdul Kallon.  The SEC is asking for a summary judgement against the ex-mayor and if the judge rules for the SEC, Langford could face new civil penalties.
