BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- The recent arrests of international auto workers are shining another spotlight on the state's immigration law. Governor Bentley says those arrests won't stop the state from recruiting more foreign industry.
The charges against a German Mercedes executive and a Japanese Honda worker have since been dropped. However, many say the arrests have cast the state in a negative light for recruiting and maintaining business ties with foreign countries.
"We have a number of companies in this state from other companies in international areas," Governor Bentley says. "We're going to send them a letter to tell them what they need to do and what they can expect."
Bentley has said the law could see a few changes to make it easier to understand. Attorney General Luther Strange is asking for some portions of the law to be repealed.
