CBS42 news anchor Ken Lass surprised Simmons Middle School teacher Anita Israel with a $1,000 check recently.  The award was part of CBS42's One Class at a Time project.  Miss israel teaches special needs students and plans to use the grant to purchase Nook E-readers for students that have reading disabilities.

CBS42 awards a One Class grant every week.  Since the program's inception several years ago, several hundred thousand dollars has been donated to local schools.  Any teacher can apply for one of our grants.  Just go to cbs42.com, click on "Features", and follow the One Class link to the application form.

Our weekly One Class winner is announced every Tuesday during the school year on CBS42 News at Six and is featured every Thursday night, also at six.  The co-sponsors for One Class at a Time are America's First, Pepsi and KFC.
