SHELBY Co., Ala. (WIAT) - If everyone will just spend a little money, it could do wonders for the local economy.  That's the strategy for a promotion this Saturday by The Shelby County Reporter and The Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce.

They're calling it $20 on the 20th.  The idea is for each of the county's 200,000 residents to spend $20 at a local business.  If that happens, almost $4-million will be pumped into Shelby County's economy.

To encourage local spending, several businesses are holding special promotions including some 20 percent off sales.
