Birmingham, Ala (WIAT) The first Alabama Gives online drive for charities generated three quarters of a million dollars for more than 900 participating charities.
The money came in online donations from almost 8500 donors.
The program was an initiative of the Alabama Broadcasters Association and other groups.
Restoration Academy led the pack raising $54,528 from 115 donors. The Jefferson County Library Cooperative had the most donors. 313 people gave $10,773.
Here are the top ten recipients of donations:
1. Restoration Academy, 151 donors - $54,528.
2. Marion Military Institute, 31 donors - $12,800.
3. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama, 101 donors - $11,806.
4. Methodist Home for the Aging, 105 donors - $10,780.
5. Jefferson County Library Cooperative, 313 donors - $10,773.
6. The Redmont School, 72 donors - $6,842.
7. Hand in Paw, 139 donors - $6,720.
8. Alabama Outward Bound School, 40 donors - $6,590.
9. Greater Birmingham Humane Society, 165 donors - $6,418.
10. Alabama Civil Justice Foundation, 60 donors - $5,925.
