The parking lot of Word of Life Christian Center sits empty Friday afternoon, but in cyberspace a blog tied to the church is on fire.

Members have learned of a federal investigation targeting their former Youth Pastor William David Webb.

According to an indictment filed on December 31st, Webb is charged with transporting a person under the age of 18 across state lines with intent to engage in sexual activity.

According to the indictment Webb and the underaged church member were in Oklahoma from March 31st 2004 to April 3rd where the sexual act allegedly took place.

A former church member who asked not to be identified tells CBS 42 that rumors of the incident came to light in 2007 and that's when Webb at the urging of his father Reverend Scott Webb left the church.

With the church office closed, we tracked Reverend Scott Webb down at his Trussville home. But we were only able to get as close as the intercom.

Scott Webb wouldn't confirm why his son left the church, and instead referred CBS 42 to attorney Tommy Spina.

Spina says he has not reviewed the evidence in the case, but that the Webb family stands behind David who will soon return to Alabama to answer the charges.

Says Spina,  "I am aware that he is willing to waive extradition and come back to Alabama to face these charges as soon as he possibly gets here. He's looking forward to his day in court."

A federal judge has set David Webb's Bond at $250,000.

As the survivor of childhood sexual abuse, I can tell you that I will go to my grave with the emotional scars and haunting memories of an adult receiving sexual gratification at my expense when I did not understand what he was doing, or why. I hope these girls will find professional help and begin the healing process. As far as people wishing to claim vindication for David and the Webb family, only time will tell. Man's law can be much more severe than God's law when a child's innocence is taken, and turning the other cheek is simply not an option. The children who will be most affected are not only the girls involved, but David and Tara's children as well. The children are the ones who go with my prayers. The adults will receive exactly what they deserve and nothing more - or less.

Any news on this? I used to know him when I was younger and I'd like to know how all of this is going now?

A lot of people have already been hurt by all of this. The entire Church has been effected already. I'm sure that those who are just finding out about all of this are in for a lot of hurt, as well. We should all be praying for EVERYONE involved, and their families.

If found guilty or not found guilty something happened. When this was rumored to have happened in 2007 he moved out of state. A person who is innocent doesn't run do they? Even if if found not guilty that still doesn't mean it didn't happen(ie; OJ Simpson)It's those like him who think they should not be questioned or accused of such a horrific crime that actually get away with such sick crap as this. Either way glad I'm not in either family's shoes with the crap thats about to come forth in this

Wow did not know that when charges were brought that means you are guilty. Iguess those Duke players should be in jail right now huh. There are far too many people convicted in the press these days. Please people lets remember that this is America not a third world country

To go a little further, it's you people who pre-judge that make me sick. You weren't there, and you don't know what happened. I hate to break it to you, but sometimes stories are MADE UP. You have no clue even what you are talking about.

David Webb will be vindicated.

I hope this case gets a lot of national media attention. I am sick of the youth being abused by so-called church leaders.

What a sicko! I sure hope he gets what he deserves.

When one person suffers like this we all suffer as Christians. This isn't what the Bible teaches that followers of Jesus look like. Unfortunately there are ministers who fall into sin and hurt people. It shouldn't be so. I've been around long enough to be sure I keep my eyes on Jesus. People will be people, sadly. I'm not going to let it make me bitter. It rather inspires me to do the right thing, so I don't hurt someone myself. May our lives so reflect the love of Jesus and our deeds show His kindness and goodness to everyone we meet each day. If so, perhaps it will help those who have been hurt....to forget.
