BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) - The key focus this week in court are wiretaps and other secret recordings and whether they prove the defendents either tried to bribe or accept bribes in exchange for votes promoting electronic bingo legislation.
Tuesday, prosecutors played a recording made from a wire they say was worn by Senator Beason. During the recording, prosecutors point out Country Crossing lobbyist Jarrod Massey offering Beason a million dollars to support pro-gambling legislation.
Beason says he wore the recording device for the FBI when he met with Massey in Homewood, in February of 2010.
McGregor attorney Bobby Segall; however, fired back calling Beason a politically ambitious republican who wants to take the VictoryLand owner down because he supports democrats.
Defense Attorney and former federal prosecutor Raymond Johnson was in the CBS42 studio Tuesday and talked about wiretaps.
