JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) - Members of the Walker County branch of the NAACP say February is a chance to re-energize their efforts in the community.
A special event called "Voices of the Masters" is planned for African American History Month in Walker County. Speakers will talk to young people about living in Alabama through the 19-50's and 60's ... emphasizing their struggles for equality, including in education.
The "Voices of the Masters" event will be each Monday night at six o'clock at the Lueada Smith Center on Crutchfield Boulevard in Jasper.
Members say this is also part of their efforts to re-activate the branch ... which currently only has about thirty members.
