"I think they are a way to get people aware that there is an emergency that they need to tune into TV or radio station to see what's going on and see if they are in any danger" said Lisa Bohannon of Fultondale.

"They tell you when the tornado warnings are in effect" said Billy Mitchell of Morris.

"I'm going to find out exactly what's going on and take cover if I need to" said Douglas Collett of Mount Olive.

"The tornado outdoor warning devices as they are.. are part of the warning system...only a small part of the warning system" said Jefferson County Emergency Manager Allen Kniphfen.

There are many ways to get information...the most trusted warning is the NOAA Weather Radio especially if the power goes out.
