BIRMINGHAM, AL (WIAT) --- An area consignment shop is hoping to ease the formal wear burden, by offering great deals!

More than one hundred gowns were on sale for only $10.37 at Collage Consignment in Vestavia.

All of the gowns sold today, were donated by members of the community and all of the proceeds will benefit my sisters closet at the YWMA.

Organizers say today's turnout was better than expected.

"Oh jumping up and down- thrilled to death.  They could not believe it because they're not spending 300 dollars for their prom dress they're getting one for 10 dollars and there were some great looking gowns that women donated for the charity," says owner of Collage Designer Consignment.

Girls lined up before they opened, and after just one hour, they'd sold more than one hundred dresses!
