Tuscaloosa, AL (WIAT) Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office today charged Tivon Rollie Thomas with the following:
Five counts of Robbery 1st Degree, two counts of Attempted Murder, one count of Burglary 1st Degree, two counts of Assault 2nd degree, and one count of Assault 1st degree. Tivon was shot during the robbery and is currently in stable condition at DCH. Tuscaloosa Sheriff's Office will be pursuing charges on another individual who was in possession of a firearm, with an altered serial number, a felony in the State of Alabama and the potential of Federal charges.
Tuscaloosa Sheriff Information Officer Sgt. Andy Norris also added this statement regarding Donald Deshun Wynn, the other man charged in the shooting:
I am disappointed to report on an issue that has been of great concern of law enforcement for some time. I received and confirmed with the Tuscaloosa County Community Corrections program that Donald Deshun Wynn was a participant in the Supervised Prison Diversion Program. Wynn failed drug tests on January 17, January 23, January 30, and February 1st. On two of these occasions he attempted to introduce a false urine sample.
I have spoken with my law enforcement counterparts and we are again concerned regarding the credibility and supervision of the programs administered through Tuscaloosa County Community Corrections. At this time we have found no attempt to revoke Donald Dehun Wynn from the Prison Deferral program and return him to prison to serve his sentence. Had this been done on the first, second, third, or even fourth attempt, he would not have been on the street to allegedly be on a crime where 5 victims were shot on a robbery.
The victims are as follows:
17 year old male – shot in the chest – still critical condition
18 year old male – shot in the side – released
18 year old female – shot in the abdomen – still critical condition
18 year old male – shot in the arm – released 20 year old male – shot in the leg – released from DCH
Suspect:
23 year old male – shot in the abdomen – stable condition, now charged with counts listed above.
